Cape Town, the most popular tourist destination in South Africa, is a title well deserved, as the city is scenically arresting, with ocean vistas never far away, nestled at the base of iconic Table Mountain and fanning out from the city centre are areas of natural beauty that are simply breath taking, that it’s worthwhile spending a few nights to take it all in.


The city of Cape Town has numerous galleries, monuments and museums which showcase South Africa’s history. Some of the captivating attractions are St George’s Cathedral, Iziko National Gallery, the Noon Day Gun,Castle of Good Hope, The Company Gardens and Rhodes Memorial. Shopping is definitely on the cards at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (often shortened to the V&A Waterfront), in Longand Church Streets, and the upcoming shopping mecca of De Waterkant. There are the markets of St George’s Square and Greenmarket Square, along with weekend markets at Woodstock. The Neighbourgoods Market is a good place to sample local dishes and typically Capetonian-style culture and ambiance.

Itinerary

Day 1
On arrival today at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by our representative with a warm South African welcome and handed your travel documentation. 

You will then be transferred from Cape Town Airport to your hotel for check-in. Your accommodation is at the 4 hotel close to Cape Town’s CBD. Sea Point, is a buzz of activity, with numerous restaurants/cafes and night life to choose from. The hotel itself boasts some of the best Atlantic seaboard views from its hotel rooms, as well as incredible views from the hotel’s revolving restaurant. The hotel is also a mere 300 metres from one of Cape Town’s top attractions, the V&A Waterfront and a mere 300m from the beach promenade as well. The hotel has a swimming pool, room service (1100-2300), laundry and dry cleaning, safety deposit boxes, luggage storage, baby cots and baby sitting on request basis.

Day 2
Today we have included a scheduled half day city tour of Cape Town, to orientate yourself with the city and introduce you to South Africa’s top tourist destination.The Cape Town city tour departs between 07h45 and 08h30 in the morning, returning at approximately 12h30.

This tour is designed to orientate you to the magic of Cape Town – iconic buildings and snatches of history. Your tour usually begins with Table Mountain and a ride up the cable car to the top of the mountain (weather permitting) and from here you will be able to see awesome views of mountain, sea and the city of Cape Town. You will visit the country’s oldest building, The Castle, and the Company Gardens, both historically fascinating and well preserved. Your tour continues with a drive past Parliament Buildings, City Hall and the Slave Lodge. Colonial then changes to colourful as you enter Cape Town’s Malay Quarter, where the houses of the Bo-Kaap are painted in bright hues – the Bo-Kaap is a distinctive community, and one of the oldest areas of Cape Town, with cobblestoned streets and quaint historic houses. You day ends at a professional diamond cutter, a stone symbolic of Africa. Your tour ends midday, and after drop off at your hotel, the remainder of your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 3
Today is spent at leisure discovering the city of Cape Town. There are a great number of opportunities to shop in Cape Town – here are a few suggestions:

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – One of Cape Town’s hottest tourist attractions, the V&A houses a wealth of local and international brands over three floors, as well as good restaurants in a memorable setting.

Church Street – Enjoy the collection of antique shops in this area, for costume jewellery, antique trinkets and other treasures, catering for the serious antique hunter and the novice browser.

Kloof Street – Restaurants and eateries line the pavement, as well as designer boutique stores.

Long Street – Lined with historic Victorian buildings, Long Street is not only architecturally aesthetic, it also hosts a collection of specialist clothing, book and antique stores, as well as vibrant cafes, bars and nightclubs. Also found in Long Street is the Pan African Market, which is well worth visiting.

The Pan African Market – Found in Long Street, housed within one of the Victorian buildings, this colourful market of tight stairwells and traders jostling side by side, brings together curios and artwork from across the African continent.

Streetwires – This outlet on Shortmarket Street is an opportunity to purchase true South African works of art, made of wire and colourful beads, created by extremely talented artists from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Greenmarket Square – With a range of curios from across Africa, this is a good market to hunt for that little gift for friends and relatives back home. Cafes and restaurants line the fringe of the market in one of the oldest squares in the city.

De Waterkant – An area that has seen much rejuvenation in recent years. Here a network of intricate cobblestone roads, lined with bright residences, interspersed with restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, cafes and clubs as well as a new design quarter, the Cape Quarter.

Woodstock – Located in an edgy, up and coming quarter, the Old Biscuit Mill Complex houses quirky designer shops, but it is the weekly Neighbourgoods Market here on Saturdays 09:00 – 14:00) that is the real highlight. Over 100 eco-aware merchants of seasonal plants, herbs and fresh produce, along with boutique wine estates display their wares. Take a walk a little further up the road to The Bromwell Boutique Mall, which show cases innovative art and design in a historical building (and which has a delightful restaurant). 375 and 250 Albert Road respectively.

Day 4
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel for your full day Peninsula Tour which departs between 07h50 and 08h30, returning to your hotel later in the day at approximately 17h30. 

The Cape has been described as ‘The Fairest Cape’ and you will soon see for yourself why this part of South Africa earned its name. Cruise along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise, from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno, and on towards the charming working harbour of Hout Bay. You may choose to hop on board for an up close and personal Seal Island cruise (own account & payable direct) where these intriguing creatures dive and gambol in the water.Back on terra firma, the tour winds along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breath-taking  ocean views, before arriving at the a lunch spot (own account & payable direct), on the wild and beautiful Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park, an integral part of the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom.The tour then meanders back along the coast towards the city, visiting the historic naval port of Simons Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach, before returning to Cape Town, with drop off at your hotel.

Day 5 to 7
The next three days are yours to discover Cape Town and her surrounds at your leisure.

Day 8
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. You will be transferred from your hotel to Cape Town International Airport for your onward travel arrangements or journey home.
